Compare·Countly
You can host it yourself, but funnels are extra.
Countly can run on your own servers, and it has SDKs for almost every platform, from phones to desktop apps. Its free Lite edition leaves out funnels and retention, and the hosted Flex plan adds them as a paid extra.
What Countly is
An analytics and engagement platform for apps on most platforms, with an open-source edition you host yourself.
- Licence
- Open-source Lite edition (AGPL-3.0); Flex and Enterprise are paid
- Hosting
- Self-host, or their private cloud in a region you choose
- Best at
- Keeping app data on your own servers, with crash reports and in-app tools beside the analytics.
Where Countly wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Run it on your own servers
Lite is free to self-host under AGPL-3.0, and Enterprise runs on your own infrastructure too. We are hosted only and closed source. If the data must stay with you, Countly can do that and we cannot.
SDKs for nearly every platform
Countly has SDKs for mobile and desktop apps, and it reports crashes too. Our tracking is built for the web.
Flags and experiments
Lite includes remote config, which works as a feature flag. The paid editions add A/B tests and surveys. We have no flags or experiments.
Heatmaps
Click and scroll heatmaps come with Flex and Enterprise. We have none.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
Funnels and retention on the free plan
Funnels and retention are on every plan here, Free included. Countly Lite has neither. Flex adds them with its paid Intelligence add-on.
Revenue traced to the channel
Countly adds up the amounts your events send, in whatever currency they arrive. We take payments from your provider and convert each one at the rate on its day. Each sale is then credited to its channel, by last-touch or linear.
A hosted MCP server
Countly’s official MCP server is a program you run yourself, with a Countly token. Ours is one hosted address and one account key, on every plan.
Nothing to run
Lite is free, but you run the server and its upgrades. Here there is no server to run and nothing to upgrade.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Countly can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Countly running.
01
Keep Countly running
Your apps keep reporting to it, crashes included. Nothing here replaces that.
02
Add the snippet to your website
Start with the web, where our tracking is built to work. Pageviews and sessions arrive on the next request.
03
Use the same user ID
Pass the user ID your app already gives Countly, so each person has one timeline here.
04
Connect your payments
Revenue then comes from your provider, not from event amounts. Each sale is credited to its channel.
FAQ
Switching from Countly.
What people ask before they switch.
Can I self-host Spreelytics like Countly?
No. We are hosted only, and closed source. If the data must stay on your own servers, Countly Lite or Enterprise is the right choice.
Does Spreelytics track mobile apps?
Our tracking is built for the web, and events can also come from your server. Countly has native SDKs for mobile and desktop apps. For an app-first product, it is the better fit.
Do you have feature flags or A/B tests?
No, neither. Countly Lite has remote config, and its paid editions add A/B tests.
