Compare·PostHog
More product, or less to learn.
PostHog is the broadest tool in this comparison, with replay, flags, experiments and surveys on top of product analytics. You get real breadth, and more to deal with.
What PostHog is
An open-source product analytics platform that has grown into replay, feature flags, experiments, surveys and a data warehouse.
- Licence
- Open source (MIT core, some paid components)
- Hosting
- Cloud or self-host
- Best at
- Being one bill and one SDK for analytics, replay, flags and experiments, on a platform wider than ours.
Where PostHog wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Replay made for debugging
If watching a real session is part of how your team debugs, PostHog goes further than we do. Our replay, on the Growth plan, captures no console or network logs and tracks no errors.
Feature flags and experiments
Shipping behind a flag and measuring the experiment in the same tool is a real workflow advantage. We do neither.
Open source and self-hostable
You can run it yourself and read the code. We are hosted and closed source.
A wider platform
Surveys, a data warehouse, SQL access. If you want one vendor for all of it, that is a coherent reason to pick them.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
Web analytics that was not bolted on
Channels, sources, all five UTM fields, entry and exit pages, SEO from Search Console and a live globe are first-class pages here. In PostHog, web analytics is a newer section.
Revenue attribution as standard
We trace payments from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy by last-touch or linear attribution, with channel classification built in. Ours is fully released. Theirs is still in beta.
Crawlers without a log pipeline
AI crawlers almost never run JavaScript, so both of us count them server-side. Ours is one middleware line in your app, split into assistants, search and training out of the box; theirs means forwarding your server or CDN logs, and its bot view is still in alpha.
Less to hold in your head
The overview fills in as soon as data arrives. There are no events to name and no taxonomy to agree on before it is useful.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because PostHog can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving PostHog running.
01
Decide what you are replacing
If you use flags and experiments daily, you would add us and keep PostHog. That is fine, and worth working out first.
02
Add the snippet
Pageviews, sessions, referrers and campaigns start arriving with nothing named first.
03
Point your agent at MCP
One endpoint and one account key cover every project in the account. The agent sees the dashboard’s numbers and can change what your role allows.
FAQ
Switching from PostHog.
What people ask before they switch.
Does Spreelytics have session replay?
Yes, on the Growth plan, for websites. A recorded visit plays back with its page views, events, clicks and rage clicks listed beside it, at up to 16× speed. We capture no console or network logs, so if your team debugs from those, PostHog is the closer fit.
Do you have feature flags?
No. Flags and experiments are theirs. Plenty of teams run a flag tool beside an analytics tool on purpose.
Why would we run both?
Some teams use PostHog for the product and Spreelytics for marketing: acquisition, SEO, crawler traffic and revenue attribution. They do it because we built those pages first and PostHog built them last.
