Compare·Fathom
Simple on purpose, which only goes so far.
Fathom chose early to stay simple, compliant and fast, and has stuck to it. We chose differently. Which fits you depends on whether you have questions past the dashboard.
What Fathom is
A privacy-first, cookieless analytics SaaS with an EU isolation option and a deliberately small feature surface.
- Licence
- Proprietary
- Hosting
- Their cloud, with an EU isolation option
- Best at
- A compliance story you can hand to legal without a meeting, on a product simple enough that nobody needs training.
Where Fathom wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Cookieless, with EU isolation
Fathom sets no cookie, and its EU isolation option strips visitor IP addresses inside the EU before anything is stored. There is one mode to explain. We default to one first-party cookie and make cookieless a per-project switch, so with us you first explain which mode a project is in.
Simplicity as a feature
There is one dashboard and nothing to configure or get wrong. If what you need is traffic numbers a non-analyst will look at, extra features are a cost with no benefit.
A very small script
Lighter than ours, because it collects less.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
The questions after the dashboard
Funnels with per-step drop-off, weekly retention, saved cohorts, journeys both directions, and one timeline per person. Fathom does not model any of these, by choice.
Revenue, attributed
Payments from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy, traced by last-touch or linear attribution, with revenue per channel and per visitor.
A free tier that is not a trial
100k events a month, forever, with every feature except session replay and the AI assistant in it. Theirs is paid after a trial.
Crawlers and AI agents
Server-side AI-crawler tracking and an MCP endpoint your agent can query and build on directly.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Fathom can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Fathom running.
01
Run both for a fortnight
Two scripts. Compare a full week against a full week before you decide anything.
02
Name your goals
Pick the pages and events that count, and connect your payment provider for the money.
03
Ask a harder question
Build one funnel and read one retention grid. If neither tells you something new, Fathom was the right tool and you should keep it.
FAQ
Switching from Fathom.
What people ask before they switch.
Fathom needs no consent banner. Do you?
We will not claim you do not, in either of our modes. By default we set one first-party cookie so a returning visitor is recognised, which is what makes retention and person timelines work at all. Cookieless mode stores nothing in the browser instead. Whether that changes your answer is a question for your own privacy people.
They have one mode and no cookie to describe, which makes their side of the conversation shorter than ours. That is a fair reason to choose them.
Is Spreelytics harder to use?
There is more of it, which does not mean harder. The overview is populated the moment data arrives, with nothing configured. But there are more than a dozen other pages behind it, and Fathom has one on purpose.
