Most privacy-friendly analytics tools charge by volume, and most publish their prices. They do not all count the same thing, though, and the cheapest plan is not always the one with the features you need. This post puts eight of them side by side.
Every price comes from the vendor's own pricing page, read on 1 October 2026. Prices change, so check the vendor's page before you decide. We make Spreelytics, which is one of the eight.
What each tool counts
A "million" is not the same million everywhere.
- Pageviews. Plausible, Fathom and Rybbit price by pageviews. All three also count custom events toward the same allowance.
- Events. Umami, OpenPanel and Spreelytics count each pageview and each custom event. Umami also counts every stored event property as an event, so an event with three properties counts four times.
- Hits. Matomo counts pageviews, events, downloads, outbound links and site searches.
- Datapoints. Simple Analytics counts pageviews and events together.
For a typical content site, these all land close together. For a site that tracks a lot of custom events with properties, the differences can be large.
Prices at 1M and 10M a month
Monthly billing. Where a tool has more than one plan, each is listed.

|---|---|---|---|
| Umami Cloud | 100k events, 1 site | $20 (Pro) | $200 (Business) |
| Simple Analytics | Yes, 30 days of history | $60 | $160 |
| Fathom | No, 7-day trial | $60 | $200 |
| Plausible | No, 30-day trial | $69 / $104 / $139 | $169 / $254 / $339 |
| Rybbit | No, 7-day trial | $69 / $139 | $249 / $499 |
| Spreelytics | 100k events | $89 | $339 |
| OpenPanel | No, 30-day trial | $90 | $350 |
| Matomo Cloud | No, 21-day trial | €172 | €1,600 |
Plausible's three figures are its Starter, Growth and Business plans. Rybbit's two are Standard and Pro. Matomo showed us prices in euros.
Paying yearly
Most of them give two months free for paying a year up front: Plausible, Fathom, Simple Analytics, OpenPanel, Matomo and Spreelytics. Rybbit gives four months free. Umami's paid plans are monthly only.
What the cheaper plans leave out
The price that matters is the price of the plan with the features you use.
Plausible keeps funnels, user journeys, revenue attribution, custom properties and its Stats API for the Business plan.
Fathom has every feature on every plan, with 50 sites included.
Umami includes funnels, retention, revenue and attribution on every plan. Session replay and heatmaps are on Business.
Rybbit includes funnels, journeys and retention on Standard. Session replay is on Pro.
Matomo Cloud's Business plan includes its premium features, such as funnels, attribution and cohorts.
Spreelytics has every feature on every plan, Free included, except session replay and the in-app AI assistant, which need Growth.
What happens when you go over
Plausible lets one month over pass. After two months in a row it asks you to upgrade, and locks the dashboard a week later. It keeps collecting while locked.
Fathom contacts you after two months in a row over. After reminders it pauses dashboard and API access, and keeps collecting.
Umami bills the extra on paid plans and never stops collecting.
Simple Analytics adjusts monthly plans to your usage. On a yearly plan it emails you and raises the limit itself after a week.
Matomo bills the extra in blocks.
Spreelytics drops nothing for being over, and warns you at 90% of your allowance. A hard stop at three times the allowance, or one and a half times above the 1M size, guards against a runaway script.
Which is cheapest
At a million a month, Umami Cloud is the clear low price. At ten million, Simple Analytics, Umami and Fathom are the cheapest.
We sit in the middle of the table, and what you get for the price is different. By default, Spreelytics recognises a returning visitor with one first-party cookie, so retention and one person's whole history cover anonymous visitors too. Plausible and Fathom are built never to do that. It credits Stripe, Paddle, Polar and Lemon Squeezy revenue to the channel that earned it, on every plan. And it counts the AI crawlers that a browser script never sees.
If you only need traffic numbers, one of the cheaper tools will serve you well. If you need to know which channel brings in paying customers, compare on that. Our full ladder is on the pricing page, and several of these tools have a side-by-side page under Compare.
