Compare·Ahrefs Web Analytics
Free and simple, but it cannot see return visits.
Ahrefs Web Analytics is free up to 1M events a month, right beside the Ahrefs SEO tools you may already use. By design it does not follow anyone past a single day, and it has no revenue report.
What Ahrefs Web Analytics is

- Best at
- Giving SEO teams free, simple traffic numbers in the same account as their Ahrefs research.
Where Ahrefs Web Analytics wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Far more free events
It is free up to 1M events a month for each site you verify. Our Free plan stops at 100k events a month. If free volume decides it, they win.
Part of an SEO suite
If your team already does its SEO work in Ahrefs, your traffic sits in the same account. We show your Search Console data on an SEO page, but we do not research keywords or backlinks.
Nothing that lasts past a day
It sets no cookie, and its visitor ID resets every 24 hours. That is a short privacy story to tell. We default to one first-party cookie, and make cookieless a per-project switch.
Deeper crawler checks
On paid Ahrefs plans, Bot Analytics connects to your CDN, the network that delivers your pages, and reads every request. It flags bots that fake their name, such as a false Googlebot. If crawler detail is your main job, that is the deeper tool.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
People, not one-day counts
Ahrefs limits each record to one device and one day, by design. It cannot show who came back, and a funnel step taken tomorrow belongs to a new visitor. We keep one identity per visitor by default. Our funnels can finish days later, and our retention grids show who returned.
Revenue by channel
Ahrefs Web Analytics has no revenue report. Connect Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy here, and each sale is traced to the channel that earned it, by last-touch or linear attribution.
Crawlers on every plan
Ahrefs counts crawlers in a separate tool that connects to your CDN, on paid plans. We count them with a small package in your own server, or at the edge in front of a static site. It works on every plan, Free included.
MCP on the free plan
MCP is the standard way AI apps connect to your data. Ahrefs’ MCP server can read your Web Analytics numbers, but only on a paid Ahrefs plan. Ours comes with every plan, Free included, and it can build reports when your role allows.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Ahrefs Web Analytics can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Ahrefs Web Analytics running.
01
Keep the Ahrefs snippet
Run both scripts for two weeks. Ahrefs counts a person who visits on two days as two visitors, so expect weekly counts to differ.
02
Add our snippet
Paste our script tag into your page head. The overview is ready the moment data arrives.
03
Recreate your tracked events
Each tracked event from Ahrefs becomes one call here. Your Ahrefs funnels become goals in order, up to eight steps.
04
Add revenue and crawlers
Connect your payment provider for revenue. Add the crawler package to your server to see AI crawlers.
FAQ
Switching from Ahrefs Web Analytics.
What people ask before they switch.
Ahrefs Web Analytics is free. Why switch?
If you only need daily traffic numbers, you may not need to. Their free allowance is ten times ours.
Switch when you need people over time, or revenue by channel. Their design rules out the first, and they have no revenue report.
Can we keep Ahrefs for SEO?
Yes. We are an analytics tool, not an SEO suite, so you would keep Ahrefs for keyword and backlink work. Our SEO page shows your Search Console data next to what those visitors did on your site.
Is Spreelytics as private as Ahrefs Web Analytics?
Not in the same shape. By default we set one first-party cookie that lasts a year, so we can recognise a returning visitor. You can switch any project to cookieless, and then we store nothing in the browser.
Ahrefs has one mode, with nothing that lasts past a day. Whether either needs a consent banner depends on your jurisdiction, so ask whoever handles privacy for you.
