Compare·Crazy Egg
Heatmaps and tests first, numbers second.
Crazy Egg makes heatmaps easy to read, and it lets you test a change to a page in the same tool. Its web analytics is sampled once a site passes about 1,000 sessions a day, and it has no retention or path report.
What Crazy Egg is
A website optimisation tool that has made heatmaps since 2005, with recordings and A/B testing in the same subscription.

Where Crazy Egg wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Click and scroll heatmaps
Crazy Egg’s heatmaps show where people click and how far down they scroll, and its recordings replay single visits. We replay visits on the Growth plan, but we draw no heatmaps of any kind.
A/B tests in the same tool
From the Plus plan up, you can test a new version of a page without buying a testing tool. We run no experiments of any kind.
Surveys and popups on the page
Crazy Egg can ask visitors a question on any plan, and show a popup call to action from Plus up. Nothing of ours ever appears on your page.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
Never sampled
Crazy Egg samples its web analytics once a site passes about 1,000 sessions a day. Every query here reads every row for the range you picked.
Retention and journeys
Our retention report shows whether a segment returns week after week, and Journeys walk the paths people take from any page. Crazy Egg tracks conversions and funnels, but it has no retention or path report.
Real payments, by channel
Crazy Egg adds up a value you give each conversion goal. We take each payment from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy and credit it to the channels that earned it.
Crawlers counted where they land
AI crawlers rarely run JavaScript, so a heatmap script never sees them. We count them on your server and keep them out of your visitor numbers.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Crazy Egg can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Crazy Egg running.
01
Keep Crazy Egg for heatmaps and tests
Its snippet stays in place, so your heatmaps and any running test carry on as before.
02
Add our snippet beside it
One script tag. Pageviews and sessions start arriving on the next request, and none of them are sampled.
03
Recreate your conversion goals
A Crazy Egg goal for a page visit stays a page here. A click or a form submit becomes an event you send, one call each.
04
Connect your payments
Connect your payment provider instead of giving each goal a fixed value. Each sale then carries its real amount to the channel that earned it.
FAQ
Switching from Crazy Egg.
What people ask before they switch.
Does Spreelytics have heatmaps or recordings?
Recordings, yes, on the Growth plan. A recorded visit plays back with its page views, clicks and events listed beside it, and you can open it from the person’s timeline. Heatmaps, no, of any kind.
If heatmaps are how your team decides what to change on a page, keep Crazy Egg for that. Plenty of teams run it next to their analytics.
Can Spreelytics run A/B tests?
No. We have no experiments and no feature flags. If you test pages in Crazy Egg, keep doing that there.
Why do my visitor numbers differ from Crazy Egg’s?
Partly because of sampling. Once a site passes about 1,000 sessions a day, Crazy Egg works out its web analytics from a sample. We read every row.
The two tools also define sessions and filter bots in their own ways, so some gap is normal.
