Compare·Netlify Analytics
No script to add, but it only counts traffic.
Netlify Analytics counts traffic from Netlify’s own server logs, so there is no script to add. It keeps 30 days at most, and it cannot follow a visitor from one page to the next.
What Netlify Analytics is
Netlify’s built-in traffic counts, now called Web Analytics, read from its own server logs with no script on the page.

Where Netlify Analytics wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Nothing to add to your pages
Netlify counts from its own server logs, so there is no script. Ad blockers cannot stop it, and nothing is stored in the browser. Ours is a script, and by default it sets one first-party cookie.
Missing pages and page speed
It lists the pages that most often return a 404 error. Its Real User Monitoring reports page speed from real visitors. We report neither for your visitors.
AI agents in Observability
Netlify’s Observability shows every request, bots included. It separates AI agents that fetch a page to answer a question from bulk crawlers. You install nothing for it.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
History past a month
Netlify keeps one day of history on its Free plan, and 30 days on Pro. Ours keeps 13 months on Free and five years on Growth.
People, not IP addresses
Netlify counts each IP address as one visitor a day, so people who share a network count once. We count visitors, and by default we recognise them when they come back.
Channels and campaigns
Netlify lists its top sources by URL. We sort traffic into channels and read all five UTM fields, so each campaign gets its own numbers.
What happens after the landing page
Funnels show where people drop off. Journeys show the routes they take through the site. Netlify’s charts stop at counts of pages and sources.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Netlify Analytics can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Netlify Analytics running.
01
Leave Netlify Analytics on
Keep it running while you compare. It counts from server logs and we count from the page, so the numbers will not match exactly.
02
Add the snippet
Put one script tag in your site’s head. If you would rather not touch the code, Netlify’s snippet injection setting can add it for you.
03
Count crawlers at the edge
Our crawler middleware runs on edge runtimes too. On a static site, put it in an edge function in front of your pages.
04
Connect your payments
Connect your payment provider and pass the visitor id at checkout. Each sale is then traced to the channel that brought the buyer.
FAQ
Switching from Netlify Analytics.
What people ask before they switch.
Why do your numbers differ from Netlify’s?
Netlify reads its server logs, so it also counts visitors who block scripts. It counts each IP address once a day as a visitor. We count from a script in the page, and we drop datacenter traffic at ingest. The two will never match exactly.
Netlify Analytics sets no cookies. Does Spreelytics?
By default we set one first-party cookie, so a returning visitor is recognised as the same person. That is what makes retention and person timelines work.
You can switch a project to cookieless mode. Then nothing is stored in the browser, and an anonymous visitor counts as new each day.
Is Netlify Analytics the same as Netlify’s Web Analytics?
Yes. Netlify has renamed it more than once. In December 2025 it became Web Analytics, and it still counts from server logs.
