Its higher Enterprise tiers add HIPAA support with a signed agreement, and you can choose the data centre. The Business plan runs on an EU-operated cloud in Sweden. If your legal team picks the tool, that can settle it.

Tags and consent in one suite

Business plans include Piwik PRO’s tag manager and a consent tool from Cookie Information. We offer neither, so those would stay in other tools.

More attribution models

It has six built-in attribution models, and you can add custom ones over a lookback window you set. Another report shows the paths people took before converting. Ours is last-touch or linear.

Piwik PRO ended its free Core plan in February 2026, so it now starts with a 30-day trial. Ours is 100k events a month, forever, with every feature except session replay and the in-app AI assistant.

Retention and cohorts

Piwik PRO compares new and returning visitors, and its list of reports has no cohort or retention report. We have weekly retention for any segment, and one timeline per person.

Revenue from the payment, not the page

Piwik PRO’s ecommerce tracking records orders from your site. We take payments from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy and trace each one by last-touch or linear, on every plan.

Crawlers and a hosted MCP

Piwik PRO filters bots out, and its AI referral channel counts people who arrive from AI tools. We also count the crawlers themselves, on your server. Their MCP server is a beta you run on your own machine. Ours is hosted, at one address with one account key.

Piwik PRO’s free plan has ended. Is yours different?

Ours is 100k events a month, forever. It is a plan, not a trial. It includes every feature except session replay and the in-app AI assistant, and MCP access is part of it.

Do you have a consent manager or a tag manager?

No, neither. Keep the consent tool you use now, and load our script like any other tag.

By default we set one first-party cookie. A cookieless mode stores nothing in the browser, and you switch it on per project. We will tell whoever handles privacy at your company exactly what is stored.

We work in a regulated sector. Should we switch?

Maybe not. Piwik PRO lists HIPAA support, with a signed agreement, on its higher Enterprise tiers. It also lets you choose where your data is hosted. If your contract needs either, start there.
