Our MCP server lets an AI app read your analytics and build reports for you. Until now, connecting one meant making an account key and pasting it into a config file. That suits Claude Code and Cursor. Claude on the web and ChatGPT expect to connect by signing in, so most people could not use a key there.
Two things change today. You can connect by signing in, with no key to copy. And answers can show up as a chart, a row of number tiles or a table, right inside the chat.
How signing in works
You add the server address, https://mcp.spreelytics.com/mcp, to your AI app. The app opens a
Spreelytics page in your browser. You sign in, approve the connection, and the browser sends you
back to the app.
The approval page asks for two things.
A workspace. A signed-in connection can only see the workspace you pick. If you belong to several, the app cannot reach the others.
Whether it may make changes. When the app asks to build things, such as a goal, a funnel or a dashboard, you see an Allow changes switch. Turn it off and the app can only read. If your role in that workspace is view-only, the app can only read either way.
The page also shows the app's name, where approving will send you, and a verified address when the app's identity can be checked. Only approve a request you started yourself.
Connecting your app
Claude, on the web or desktop. Open Customize › Connectors, choose Add custom connector, paste the server address, and sign in when Claude asks.
ChatGPT. Turn on Developer mode under Settings › Security and login. Then add an app with the server address, and sign in when ChatGPT asks.
Claude Code. Run this, then type /mcp in Claude Code and choose Authenticate:
claude mcp add --transport http spreelytics https://mcp.spreelytics.com/mcp
Cursor and VS Code. Add the server address to the app's MCP config without a key, and sign in when prompted. The exact snippet for each is in Spreelytics under Settings → MCP.
Answers you can see
AI apps that support MCP views now draw some answers instead of describing them.
- Charts. A question that runs a chart, or reads one of your saved reports, comes back as the chart itself. A single figure shows as one large number with its change.
- Number tiles. An overview question shows the headline figures as a row of tiles.
- Tables. Top pages and breakdowns, such as visitors by channel or country, show as a ranked table.
In apps without MCP views, nothing changes. The same answer arrives as text.
Keys still work
Account keys work exactly as before, and they are still the way in for Windsurf and for scripts.
They are only accepted in the Authorization header. A key in the server address is never read,
because addresses end up in logs and shell history.
The two have different reach. An account key reaches every workspace you belong to. A signed-in connection stays inside the one workspace you approved.
If you set up a key earlier, there is nothing to change. Our guide to using Claude Code or Cursor with a key still applies.
Which plan
MCP is on every plan, Free included, for both keys and signing in. The full list of what an AI app can read and build is in the MCP docs.
