Compare·Independent Analytics
Private stats that stay on your server.
Independent Analytics keeps every visit in your own WordPress database, with no cookies and no outside service. It shows sessions and the sources of sales well, but it has no funnels or retention, and its tables grow with your traffic.
What Independent Analytics is
A WordPress analytics plugin that records each visit in your own database, with no cookies and no outside servers.
- Licence
- Open source (GPL-2.0+), with a paid Pro add-on
- Hosting
- Inside your WordPress site and database
- Best at
- Keeping analytics entirely on your own WordPress server, with no cookie and no account to create.
Where Independent Analytics wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Nothing leaves your server
Every visit is recorded in your own WordPress database, and the plugin talks to no outside service. We are a hosted product, so with us your data sits on our servers.
No cookie in any mode
It recognises returning visitors without a cookie, and that is how it always works. We default to one first-party cookie and make cookieless a per-project switch, so someone has to turn it on.
Store and form tracking built in
On Pro, it tracks sales from WooCommerce and several other store plugins, and form entries from more than 20 form plugins, with no code. We have no WordPress plugin. Our revenue comes from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy.
It knows your WordPress users
It can skip visits from user roles you choose, and it shows view counts in the Posts list. A pasted snippet does not know who is logged in to WordPress.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
Your database stays small
Independent Analytics estimates 200 to 300 MB for every million sessions, all in your own database. At around a million visitors a month, its Analytics menu loads more slowly. We are hosted, so your WordPress database and your backups stay the size they are.
Funnels and retention
It shows the timeline of each session, but it has no funnels and no retention. We show the drop between steps you name, up to eight. Weekly retention works for any segment you save.
People you can identify
Its visitors stay anonymous, and you cannot look one up by name. We give each person one timeline, and identifying someone joins their earlier history across devices, except on cookieless projects.
Attribution you choose
It shows which referrers and campaigns led to sales, with no model to choose. We credit each sale by last-touch or linear attribution, over a lookback window you set, on every plan.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Independent Analytics can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Independent Analytics running.
01
Keep the plugin active
Your history is in its tables. Leave it running while new data collects here, and compare a full week against a full week.
02
Paste the snippet
Put it in your theme’s header, or use any plugin that adds code to the page head.
03
Rebuild your conversions
Make each form’s thank-you page a goal. Your existing UTM links keep working, and all five fields are read.
04
Clear out the old tables
Once you stop using it, the plugin has an option to delete all of its data from your database.
FAQ
Switching from Independent Analytics.
What people ask before they switch.
Where does Spreelytics keep my data?
On our servers, in your Spreelytics workspace. Nothing is written to your WordPress database, and there is no self-hosted version.
Your events are never sold, and never used for ad targeting. If the data must stay on your own server, Independent Analytics does that and we do not.
Will the snippet slow my site down?
It is one script tag in the page head, and it runs in the visitor’s browser. Your server and your database do no extra work for it.
It is not the smallest script around, because it does more. If every kilobyte in your page head is contested, measure it before you switch.
Do I still need a consent banner?
That depends on your jurisdiction and on everything else your site collects. We will not claim you can skip it in either of our modes. By default we set one first-party cookie, and cookieless mode stores nothing in the browser.
Independent Analytics sets no cookie at all, so its side of that conversation is shorter than ours.
