Compare·MonsterInsights

An easier GA4, but still GA4.

MonsterInsights makes Google Analytics easy to run on WordPress, with store tracking switched on in a few clicks. But the data lives in GA4, so you get GA4’s sampling, and deeper questions still mean building an exploration there.

What MonsterInsights is

A WordPress plugin that connects your site to Google Analytics 4 and shows simpler GA4 reports in the WordPress dashboard.

Where MonsterInsights wins.

If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.

GA4 costs nothing

The Lite plugin is free, and so is GA4, with no event limit. Our Free plan covers 100k events a month.

Made for WordPress stores

On Pro, one click tracks sales from WooCommerce and other WordPress store and membership plugins. Each order also shows the pages the buyer saw before paying. We have no WordPress plugin, and our revenue comes from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy, not from WooCommerce.

Conversions sent to your ads

On Pro, it sends conversions to ad platforms such as Google Ads and TikTok, and GA4 links to Google Ads directly. We send nothing to ad platforms.

Reports where you write

Its reports sit in the WordPress dashboard, and page insights show up in the post editor. Its AI chat is on every plan, Lite included. We are a separate app, and our assistant comes with the Growth plan.

Where Spreelytics wins.

Every line here is a page in the product today.

Never sampled

MonsterInsights reads its numbers from GA4, and GA4 samples above its thresholds. We read every row for the range you pick, so a number never turns into an estimate the week your traffic jumps.

Funnels without explorations

MonsterInsights has a shop funnel and buyer journeys, both on Pro. For anything else you build an exploration in GA4. Here, a funnel can use any pages and events as steps, on the Free plan. Retention and journeys are pages you open, and every visitor has a timeline.

Attribution you can read

GA4’s data-driven model cannot be inspected. Ours gives a sale to the last visit before it, or splits it across every visit in a lookback window you set. It works on every plan, for payments from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy.

Crawlers, not only referrals

Their AI Traffic report counts people who arrive from ChatGPT and similar tools. The AI crawlers that read your pages almost never run JavaScript, so GA4 cannot see them. We count them on the server and sort them by what they do with your pages. On WordPress, that means a Cloudflare Worker or similar code in front of your site.

Side by side.

We leave prices out because MonsterInsights can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.

Every one of these starts by leaving MonsterInsights running.

01

Leave MonsterInsights running

GA4 holds your history. Keep the plugin and the property while new data collects here.

02

Paste the snippet beside it

Add it to your theme’s header, or use any plugin that puts code in the page head. Both tags can run at once.

03

Name goals and connect payments

Make each form’s thank-you page a goal. If you sell through Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy, connect it so each sale is traced to its channel.

04

Decide on the GA4 tag

Keep it if you rely on the Google Ads link or the store reports. Plenty of people run both on purpose, and that is a fair place to end up.

FAQ

Switching from MonsterInsights.

What people ask before they switch.

Will my numbers match MonsterInsights?

No, and no two tools ever do. MonsterInsights shows GA4’s numbers. GA4 can sample them, and it filters bots differently. Ours are unsampled, and datacenter traffic is dropped before it is stored, so our visitor counts are typically lower.

MonsterInsights also leaves out logged-in admins and editors. Our snippet does not know who is logged in to WordPress, so your own visits count too, unless you load it only for logged-out visitors.

Does Spreelytics track WooCommerce sales?

Not through WooCommerce itself. We take payments from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy, or from one call on your own server.

If your shop runs on WooCommerce and its store reports are what you read most, MonsterInsights covers them with less work.

Can an AI agent read my data in either one?

Yes, in different ways. Through GA4’s official MCP server, an agent can read the data MonsterInsights sends to Google, but it cannot change anything.

Our MCP server works on every plan, including Free. Your agent reads the same numbers the dashboard shows, and it can build reports and goals within your role.
