Compare·Smartlook
Smartlook is winding down.
Smartlook stopped selling new subscriptions on 31 May 2026, and the platform closes on 30 September 2027. Splunk’s Digital Experience Analytics is the natural move for replays, and we are an option if you mostly used Smartlook for funnels and conversion, with replays of websites on our Growth plan.
What Smartlook is
Session replay and product analytics for websites and mobile apps, owned by Cisco. Sales ended on 31 May 2026, and the platform closes on 30 September 2027.

Where Smartlook wins.
If one of these is a must-have for you, go with them.
Heatmaps, and we have none
Smartlook records sessions and draws heatmaps, and it says both carry on in Splunk’s Digital Experience Analytics. Our replay comes with the Growth plan, but we draw no heatmaps of any kind.
Mobile apps and crash reports
Smartlook records native and hybrid mobile apps, and it ties crashes to the sessions that led to them. Our tracking is built for the web.
A named successor
Smartlook names Splunk’s Digital Experience Analytics as its successor. It offers session replay and funnels, and it ties into Splunk’s Real User Monitoring.
Where Spreelytics wins.
Every line here is a page in the product today.
Revenue by channel
Smartlook’s revenue insights estimate what each funnel step loses. We credit each sale to the channel that earned it, by last-touch or linear. The payments arrive from Stripe, Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy.
Journeys in both directions
Smartlook’s path view starts at the entry page and runs forward. Our journeys can also walk backwards from any page, to show how people got there.
Traffic sources as pages
Channels and all five UTM fields are pages of their own here, beside Search Console data. Smartlook can filter sessions by source, but its reports start from the sessions.
Crawlers a script cannot see
AI crawlers almost never run JavaScript, so a page script like Smartlook’s cannot see them. We count them on your server and keep them apart from your visitors.
Side by side.
We leave prices out because Smartlook can change theirs at any time. Ours are on the pricing page.

Moving over.
Every one of these starts by leaving Smartlook running.
01
Keep Smartlook until your plan ends
Your paid features run until the end of your current term. Leave the code in place while the new setup collects data.
02
Export what you want to keep
Splunk will not move your Smartlook history. Smartlook asks you to copy it out through its API before your paid plan ends, and no later than 31 August 2027.
03
Add our snippet
Paste one script tag beside Smartlook’s. Pageviews and sessions start arriving on the next request.
04
Rebuild your funnels as goals
A Smartlook funnel is a series of events. Here each step is a goal, built from a page or an event you send.
FAQ
Switching from Smartlook.
What people ask before they switch.
Can I still sign up for Smartlook?
No new subscriptions have been sold since 31 May 2026. Renewals and upgrades for existing accounts stopped on 31 August 2026.
What happens to my Smartlook account and data?
Your paid features run until your current plan ends. After that you can use the Smartlook Free plan, with its limits, until 30 September 2027. Online support ends on 31 August 2027.
On 30 September 2027 the platform closes and the remaining data is deleted. Splunk will not move your history to its product, so Smartlook asks you to export it through its API, no later than 31 August 2027.
Does Spreelytics have session replay or heatmaps?
Session replay, yes, on the Growth plan, for websites. A recorded visit plays back with its page views, clicks and events listed beside it. Heatmaps, no. If heatmaps are what you used Smartlook for, Splunk’s Digital Experience Analytics is the closer match.
Can I run a replay tool beside Spreelytics?
Yes. Ours is one script tag, and you can add it next to a replay tool’s. Our own replay covers websites only, so if you need replays inside a mobile app, choose a tool that records apps.
